Department of Botany

Introduction:

The Department of Botany is multidisciplinary department established in 2010, committed to the development of academic excellence in teaching. We offer a 3-year B.Sc. Degree in Botany. The department is highly motivated and excited to share both their knowledge and their passion in the field of geology.  As an integral part of the undergraduates’ education, the Department carries out fieldwork to ensure that our undergraduate programme is at par with the current requirements in this practical field. The department also thinking to provide facility of departmental library, to create a strong alumni network which support placement of students and trying to organize National conference, Poster competitions, Science exhibitions in upcoming time to inculcate research and competitive culture amongst the faculty and students.

Aim:

The aim of the Department is to strengthen its core activities of teaching, training and research. The Department would also like to expand in future, the development of technology and industrial Interaction under its auspices. The main thrust of the Department however is in the areas like cytologenetics, molecular biology, biotechnology, plant tissue cultural and phytochemistry etc.

Objectives:

1. The study of medicinal plants and its conservation etc.
2. To develop the medicinal plants species by tissue culture..
3. To isolate secondary metabolites and natural product from plants.
4. Study of various endangered medicinal plants species Marathawada region.

1. Botany study tour carried out at Yeldari Dam and surrounding area in academic year 2013-14.  
2. Medicinal Plants Survey methods carried out along Chikaldhar in academic year 2013-14.  
3. Student’s seminars are conducted in academic year 2013-14.  
4. Botanical  tour to Castle Rock, Karnataka  during 2012-13.
5. Krishi Mahoutshave arranaged by Bontany department.
6. Shetakari Melava in 2012-2013.
