Department of Commerce

Introduction:

The department of Commerce (U.G.& P. G.) had been started in the year 1993 & 2013 respectively. The deptt. of  U.G. & P. G. is affiliated to S. R. T. M. U. Nanded while P. G. (M. Com. banking & insurance) course had been sanctioned under UGC’s XIth plan. The M. Com. is having specialization under Banking and Insurance sector. The department is having an intake capacity of 120 & 30 students for U. G. & P. G. resp.  for first year. The M. Com. is in English medium while the B. Com. is in Marathi Medium for the students of rural region. The strengths of the department were; having well equipped computer lab, number of books available for reading, LAN connection and internet facility. The department has offering innovative subjects that would definitely helpful to the students in the current global scenario. The leading service sectors of the world are insurance and banking and hence the P. G. specialization will definitely availed them a good and practical knowledge to the students and creates job opportunities for them. The department is arranging guest lectures time to time which boosts the students in a new way and let them know in different tactical way.

Aim:

• The department aims at creating job opportunities to the students in the leading service sectors i.e. in banking & insurance and in various industries also. The department again aims at creating a new era of students in masters of commerce degree under banking & insurance specialization.

Objectives:

1. To avail the under graduation & post graduation facility to the students of the rural region.
2. To teach them in English and let them fit in the current global position.
3. To create job opportunities and get them placed.
4. To create research activities by the way of preparing project reports from the students.
5. To avail them practical knowledge through training and project work thereon.
6. The department again thought of assistance & consultancy in different industrial sectors.

Courses offered:

Undergraduate, postgraduate, Career oriented courses (Financial Accounting) and research courses offered in department.

Academic activities :

The department is arranging seminars at a regular interval.

Co-curricular activity: The department had arranged guest lectures on banking and insurance subjects, educational tours, personality development guest lecture and regular seminars and tests.

Agrawal being the H.O.D. is the life member of All India Commerce Association (AICA), life member of Maharashtra state commerce conference, life member of Marathwada commerce and management science association, Member of Editorial board of international journal of business, economics and management review, chairman of board of studies (B.O.S.) in accounts and applied statistics, academic council member, R.R.C. committee member, R. A.C. committee member, B.U.T.R. committee member, 32/5 committee member, ad-hoc board B.O.S. member.

Facilities:

1. The department is offering computer lab, tally software version 9.0 including VAT, smart board, projector, notes through e-mail.
